I work at a school linked clinic in Illinois.  I am employed by the local hospital and our other site has a NP that is employed by another hospital.  The rest of the employees are hired by the local health dept or contracted out.  It gets complicated with pay scales and benefits.  The other NP has different benefits than I do, as does the health dept.  I did have to work out issues on holidays when I first started because the health dept. gets so many more than the hospital. I feel I am entity by myself because the rest of the NP's for the hospital are either employed by the hospital physician group or the ER.  So I do not get the same benefits as they do, but mine are good.  The state of Illinois when we started the clinic wanted community involvement or we could not open.  So the hospital does pick up some of my benefits but the state pays my salary and some benefits.  The goal was to get community funding for the clinic but the state has continued to support us and we would not be here if they did not.  we do get various grants and funding from united way to fund us too.    shirley williams
