Dr. Asma Taha, Phd, RN,CPNP-PC/AC


Bio

Asma Ali Taha is the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program Director at the School of Nursing at Oregon Health & Science University, in Portland, Oregon. Additionally, she is a practicing pediatric nurse practitioner at the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC)-Dorenbecher Children’s Hospital.

With an exceptional pediatric nursing career spanning 30 years, Dr. Taha is respected as an academician, researcher, clinician, and mentor to practicing nurses, nurse practitioners, nursing students, other healthcare professionals, the local and global community. Dr. Tahas’ international contribution is focused on building health and nursing education capacity in areas of conflict.  She has presented on topics such as Building global nursing education capacityRebuilding health post-conflict: A dialogue for the future. Nursing education challenges post-conflict and global health equity in countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, India, Jamaica, Panama, and Australia. She has done all of this while creating and implementing nursing training programs in countries with limited specialized pediatric capacity.

Dr. Taha has organized several interprofessional International Outreach Pediatric specialized surgical care to hundreds of children in conflict ridden areas of the Middle East. Her work has been published in peer reviewed journals and recognized by several humanitarian awards.
