NAPNAP e-Chapter Awards

PNP/Pediatric Focused NP of the Year:

Presented by the e-Chapter to a member who is a pediatric nurse practitioner or pediatric focused nurse practitioner who exceeds the expectations as a professional Advance Practice Registered Nurse providing care to children. This APRN is recognized for their admirable character, selfless dedication, and outstanding efforts in elevating our professional practice and promoting the health and welfare of children in the community. This professional perpetually raises the bar for everyone and helps establish a higher standard of quality care. Their dedication to providing exceptional care for children leaves a legacy for other APRNs who follow in their footsteps.

Qualification Criteria may include but is not limited to:

  • Current NAPNAP and e-Chapter member, minimum of 1-year membership, nominated by self or another chapter member
  • Activities related to community, state, or regional or national health policy or advocacy initiatives
  • Presentations to local, state, national level addressing pediatric healthcare concerns
  • Publications affecting pediatric healthcare delivery or other pediatric health and wellness concerns

Preceptor of the Year 

Presented by the e-Chapter to a member serving as a preceptor for APRN students who exceeds the expectations in precepting students as a service to our profession. This nursing professional is recognized for their dedication to mentorship, education, research, and teaching skills for the future generation of nurse practitioners. Through their service aa a preceptor, they are raising the bar for all to follow their example practicing a higher standard of pediatric care.

 

Qualification Criteria may include but is not limited to:

  • Current NAPNAP and e-Chapter member, minimum of 1-year membership, nominated by self or another chapter member
  • Service as a mentor, instructor, or preceptor for pediatric nurse practitioner
  • Demonstrates contribution to the education of NP students in clinical practice with pediatric patients and families in one or more of the following areas:
    • Outstanding teaching ability.
    • Encourages student development of creative approaches or management strategies in the care of children and families in the practice setting.  
    • Models adherence to current standards for practice.  
    • Models cultural competence in clinical practice.
    • Demonstrates application of quality improvement and outcome measurement in professional practice settings.  
    • Assists students in developing professional networks with their peers and colleagues.
    • Models participation in professional activities or organizations at local, regional or national level that provide service or impact policy for children and families.

Student PNP Award  (Alternating years with Founder’s Award)

This award is presented in alternating years (With Founder’s Award) to a student member of the e-Chapter who is enrolled in a PNP program.  This student demonstrates exemplary preclinical academic accomplishments and is committed to providing exceptional care to children and their families.

 

For all student applicants:

  • Be nominated by a faculty member or a peer. No self-nominations for this award.
  • Member of the NAPNAP e-Chapter

 

Application Requirements:

  • Typed double spaced narrative description (500 words or less) describing the reasons this nominee should receive the award based on the criteria given for the award submitted to napnapechapter@gmail.com
  • Name of the university or academic program where student is enrolled
  • Nominee’s current Curriculum Vitae/resume
  • Proof of e-Chapter membership

 

Award winner receives:

  • Public recognition during the National e-Chapter annual meeting
  • A plaque
  • Award notification to academic program for student’s records
  • A complimentary 2-year e-Chapter membership

 

Founder’s Award: (Alternating years with Student Award)

  • Presented by the e-Chapter board to recognize a member who has been instrumental in service to the e-Chapter as a board member, committee chair, volunteer service, etc.

 

Qualification Criteria:

  • The candidate can be nominated by self or another chapter member
  • The recipient may not be a current board member.

Award winner receives:

  • Public recognition during the National e-Chapter annual meeting and
  • A Plaque and certificate from the e-Chapter board
