Tracy W. Halasz, DNP, CPNP - PC, PMHS
Tracy Halasz is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) with certification as a Primary Mental Health Specialist (PMHS). She has 21 years of experience in nursing and 17 as pediatric nurse practitioner. She has served as the primary care provider for children in foster care at the MUSC Foster Care Support Clinic (FCSC) since January 2013. Prior to that she worked for six years as a CPNP for MUSC Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP) providing child abuse and neglect assessments, as well as expert child abuse testimony in criminal and family court settings.
Dr. Halasz has been an invited speaker nationally on topics related to foster care, trauma-informed care, adolescent health, and mental health including the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Conferences, NAPNAP TeamPeds Talks Podcast, NAPNAP Facebook Live, and the Society of Pediatric Nurses Conference. She has published a review on trauma-informed care for children in foster care in Contemporary Pediatrics. She recently contributed to the publication of the NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth Position Statement on the Health Care and Wellbeing of Children and Adolescents in Foster Care, as well as an upcoming NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth Position Statement on Trauma-Informed Care.
Dr. Halasz is an active member of NAPNAP, currently serving as Co-Chair for the NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth Alliance for Children in Foster Care (AC-FC), NAPNAP Partners AC-FC Education and Evidence-Based Practice Co-Chair, Chair of the NAPNAP Child Maltreatment and Neglect Special Interest Group (SIG), and the NAPNAP representative for the American Academy of Pediatrics Trauma-Informed Care Partner meeting.
