President: Michelle L. Ceo, RN, CPN, CPNP-PC

Michelle L. Ceo, CPNP, graduated from Molloy College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003 and earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Stony Brook University in Child Health Nursing in 2008. She obtained her national certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) in 2012. Ceo has worked at Stony Brook Children’s since 2003, initially in the NICU and acute pediatrics as a registered nurse. She currently serves in the division of Pediatric Surgery as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner, a role she has held since 2012. Ceo specializes in caring for pediatric surgical and trauma patients in Suffolk County and is proud of her strong patient satisfaction ratings. She has been an executive board member of the Long Island Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (LI NAPNAP) since 2012, serving as treasurer from 2012 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2024. She was president from 2016 to 2017 and is currently president-elect.

Immediate Past President: Melissa Williams-Mitchell, MA, MS, CPNP-PC, AE-C

Melissa is a board-certified primary care pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) and board-eligible acute care PNP. She holds several roles as a clinical provider, educator, and nursing supervisor. Melissa has an extensive educational background, with degrees in chemistry, nursing, and community health education from CUNY York, Brooklyn, and SUNY Stony Brook. Her clinical expertise focuses on asthma and the care of medically fragile and technology-dependent children, providing compassionate care in a pediatric-centered rehabilitation facility. She is an active member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and currently serves as president of the Long Island, N.Y., chapter.

Secretary: Mary C. Feiler, RN, MSN, CPNP

Mary is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She completed her training at Stony Brook University School of Nursing and has practiced in pediatric primary care since 2014. Feiler believes the role of pediatric primary care is to educate parents and patients to help maintain optimal health and safety. She has been a member of the Stony Brook community since 1994. Her experience includes pediatric intensive care nursing, serving as pediatric emergency department nurse and coordinator, and working as nurse manager in the Stony Brook Emergency Department. Feiler enjoys traveling the country with her children and grandchildren for hockey tournaments. She also volunteers her crocheting and knitting skills to the Stony Brook Stitchers, making neonatal baby caps, chemo hats and lap blankets for patients.

CE and Social Media Chair: Alyssa Johnis, RN, CPN, CPNP-PC

Alyssa graduated from Molloy College in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and began working in the pediatric unit at Good Samaritan Hospital, where she spent seven years caring for pediatric patients on the general pediatric floor, pediatric ICU, pediatric sedation, and pediatric infusions. While working, Alyssa enrolled in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at Stony Brook University, graduating in 2021. After graduation, she accepted a position in the neurology department at Stony Brook University, treating pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental disorders and headaches. She currently works in care management. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and 1-year-old son, and volunteering for her family’s nonprofit, Angela’s House, which helps medically fragile children living in the community and in homes created by the organization.

Legislative Chair: Lisa Clark, DNP, CPNP-AC/PC

Dr. Clark is a dual-certified community and acute care pediatric nurse practitioner, currently working as a pediatric hospitalist nurse practitioner at Stony Brook Children’s in Stony Brook, New York. She is also a clinical assistant professor at Stony Brook University School of Nursing, where she teaches in the graduate pediatric nurse practitioner program. Her global work includes teaching Sudanese midwives for Helping Babies Breathe in Sudan (with Irish Aid) and assisting in the founding of Ireland’s NRP and STABLE transport programs. She is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on maternal and pediatric substance use. She has served on the board of the Maternal and Early Childhood Foundation of New York State and the New York State Opioid Use Disorder in Pregnancy and NAS Task Force. She is also a member of NAPNAP’s Global and Newborn Special Interest Groups. She has been active in advocacy for 30 years, focusing on legislative affairs and public policy. She received NAPNAP’s Grassroots Advocacy Award in 2008, has been an advocacy scholar, participates in Capitol Hill events, and is passionate about improving access to health care for all children.
