Kathy Fabian
We are seeking an inpatient pediatric nurse practitioner to join our rebuilding and expanding Pediatric Gastroenterology Division at the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital. This position would entail primary inpatient care responsibilities for children with gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional disease including short gut patients, liver transplant patients and children with GI bleeding, FTT and IBD. In addition to rounding on inpatients, duties may include inpatient consultations and working with patients with enteral tubes (N/g tubes, G tubes, GJ tubes). The successful candidate would also be strongly supported in developing clinical research projects.
We have wonderful facilities, equipment, departmental support, a statewide reputation with referral patterns and all other specialties expected in a Children's Hospital. We currently have a commitment for 4 faculty, with a new Division Chief and junior faculty starting this summer. Furthermore we are increasing our staff and will have 3 RN's, 2 midlevels (this position would be the second midlevel), one endoscopy tech, one nutritionist, one MA and one administrative assistant.
Albuquerque is nestled under the Sandia mountains and boasts year-round sunshine. It is only 40 minutes from downtown Santa Fe - the State and cultural capital of New Mexico, and driving north from there you'll find great skiing in Taos and in only 2 hours the southern Colorado Rockies. 2 hours to the south is the beautiful Elephant Butte Lake State Park.
We would definitely be interested in speaking with anyone who feels this might be a postion that would both challenge them and definitely give career satisfaction. We also promise that New Mexico would be a wonderful place to live.
