My name is Katie Johnson and I am a third year Pediatric NP student at the Ohio State University. Recently, I moved to Raleigh, NC and plan on finishing my last three quarters through distance learning.  In order to accomplish this endeavor, I must work with either a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or a Pediatrician to complete my clinical hours. Currently, I am still in need of another PNP or Pediatrician to work with in the Raleigh area for this fall quarter. Due to the large number of PNP, PA and Medical Students looking for placement in the Triangle area, it has been quite difficult to locate a clinical preceptor. Taking this into consideration, I am willing to travel up to an hour or more outside of the Raleigh area to complete my goal. [more]

Hello, I am trying to look at ALL my options on trying to find my first job as a PNP. I am a new grad with 7 years RN experience and am needing ANY advice I can get on how to get my foot in the door for my first job. Most all jobs I have seen so far want experience, but how do I get experience if no one gives me a chance? It's a bit frustrating because I adapt well and learn fast and know if given the chance, (not to "toot my own horn") but I believe I would be a wonderful asset to any pediatric practice. I have 5 years experience in the army and always moved jobs so I adapt well. I have just started my job hunt but several applications I have sent in have been rejected due to "lack of experience". I never had to find a job as a new grad RN because I went straight into the military. I am frustrated and have contacted my chapter president form NAPNAP and did not get any leads. I am limited in my job hunt because I need something in NC due to my husband being there for a fellowship. I would appreciate ANY advice from anyone! [more]
