President: Teresa Whited, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC

Dr. Teresa Whited earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2015 at Texas Christian University. Whited has worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner in pediatric cardiology, primary care and school-based clinics for more than 20 years. She is currently the associate dean of academic programs at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing and practices part time at a school-based clinic, where she cares for medically complex children. She has published and presented extensively on pediatric cardiology, primary care, immigrant health and other topics at local and national conferences.

President-elect: Megan Owen, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, IBCLC, CNE

Dr. Megan Owen earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Arkansas. She has been practicing as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner since 2017 and continues to work in pediatric urgent and emergency care. Owen began her teaching career at the University of Arkansas as a clinical instructor in 2017 and became a full-time faculty member in 2020. She spent more than two years developing and teaching in a new concept-based, accelerated bachelor’s program in nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Outside the classroom, Owen researches innovative simulation strategies to promote critical thinking in undergraduate nursing students. She has also studied breastfeeding support strategies in the primary care setting and presented some of her findings at the Arkansas Breastfeeding Symposium. In addition, Owen has published recommendations for pre-participation sports physicals in children and adolescents.

Immediate Past President and Membership Chair: Albrey Love, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC

Dr. Love is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing. She is the director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and teaches in the graduate program. Her passion is developmental and behavioral pediatrics. Her clinical experience includes service in the U.S. Air Force, pediatric primary care, community-based health and developmental pediatrics, specifically evaluating and managing complex conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Secretary: Kellie Bishop, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, PMHS

Dr. Bishop is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing. She coordinates the pediatric nurse practitioner specialty and teaches in the graduate program. Her clinical experience is in pediatric primary care, and she currently practices at a community clinic serving minority, immigrant and refugee children and their families. Her passion is pediatric behavioral and mental health. She has published and presented on a variety of behavioral and mental health topics.
Bishop is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners’ Developmental Behavioral Mental Health Special Interest Group and the Child Maltreatment & Neglect Special Interest Group.

Treasurer and Legislative Chair: Sharon Stevenson, DNP, APRN, PPCNP-BC

Dr. Stevenson is a clinical associate professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing, where she teaches in the graduate and pediatric specialty programs. Her clinical interest and expertise is in pediatric neurology, including epilepsy and headaches. She has been a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners for more than 25 years and has served on various committees at both the national level and with the Arkansas chapter.

CE Chair: Emily Davis, MNSc, APRN, CPNP-AC

Emily Davis is a clinical instructor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing. She is an acute care PNP, and her clinical expertise is in tracheostomy-ventilator-dependent care and the emergency department.

Membership Chair: Kelly Dotson, MNSc, APRN, CPNP-PC

Kelly earned her master’s degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner practicing in a rural area of northern Arkansas.
