Chapter Awards

NAPNAP e-Chapter provides up to $1,000 to support members of the eChapter in a DNP or PhD program conducting research focused on children and their families in line with NAPNAP’s mission and strategic plan. This year our doctoral scholarship awardee is Ashlee Mattutini, MSN, FNP, APRN-BC who is enrolled in the DNP Program at the University of Connecticut. The eChapter also offers one or two grants for conference tuition annually. The eChapter also has annual “Of the Year” nominees who receive a plaque and if determined by the board and membership, a Founders Award. This awardee receives a crystal engraved award.

PNP/Pediatric Focused NP of the Year

Awarded to a member who is a pediatric nurse practitioner or pediatric-focused nurse practitioner who exceeds the expectations as a professional advanced practice registered nurse providing care to children. This APRN is recognized for their admirable character, selfless dedication and outstanding efforts in elevating our professional practice and promoting the health and welfare of children in the community. This professional perpetually raises the bar for everyone and helps establish a higher standard of quality care. Their dedication to providing exceptional care for children leaves a legacy for other APRNs who follow in their footsteps.
 
Qualification criteria may include but are not limited to:
 
1. Current NAPNAP and eChapter member
2. Minimum of one-year membership, nominated by self or another chapter member
3. Proof of activities related to community, state, regional or national health policy or advocacy initiatives
4. Proof of presentations to local, state, and national levels addressing pediatric healthcare concerns
5. Publications affecting pediatric health care delivery or other pediatric health and wellness concerns

Preceptor of the Year 

 
Awarded to a member serving as a preceptor for APRN students who exceeds the expectations in precepting students as a service to our profession. This nursing professional is recognized for their dedication to mentorship, education, research and teaching skills for the future generation of nurse practitioners. Through their service as a preceptor, they are raising the bar for all to follow their example practicing a higher standard of pediatric care.
Qualification criteria may include but are not limited to:
 
1. Current NAPNAP and eChapter member and a minimum of one-year membership, nominated by self or another chapter member
2. Service as a mentor, instructor, or preceptor for pediatric nurse practitioner
3. Demonstrates contribution to the education of NP students in clinical practice with pediatric patients and families in one or more of the following areas:
  1. Outstanding teaching ability
  2. Encourages student development of creative approaches or management strategies in the care of children and families in the practice setting
  3. Models adherence to current standards for practice
  4. Models cultural competence in clinical practice
  5. Demonstrates application of quality improvement and outcome measurement in professional practice settings
  6. Assists students in developing professional networks with their peers and colleagues
  7. Models participation in professional activities or organizations at local, regional or national level that provide service or impact policy for children and families

Student of the Year

This award is presented in alternating years with the Founder’s Award to a student member of the eChapter who is enrolled in a PNP program. This student demonstrates exemplary preclinical academic accomplishments and is committed to providing exceptional care to children and their families.
Application Requirements:
 
1. Typed double-spaced narrative description (500 words or less) describing the reasons this nominee should receive the award based on the criteria given for the award submitted to napnapechapter@gmail.com
2. Name of the university or academic program where the student is enrolled
3. Nominee’s current curriculum vitae/resume
4. Must be an eChapter member and nominated by a faculty member or a peer. No self-nominations for this award.
 
Award winner receives:
 
1. Public recognition during the National e-Chapter annual meeting
2. A plaque
3. Award notification to the academic program for student records
4. A complimentary two-year eChapter membership
 

Founder’s Award

 
This award is presented in alternating years with the Student of the Year and recognizes a member who has been instrumental in service to the eChapter as a board member, committee chair, volunteer service, etc.
 
Qualification Criteria:
 
1. The candidate can be nominated by self or another chapter member
2. The recipient may not be a current board member
Award winner receives:
 
1. Public recognition during the national eChapter annual meeting
2. Plaque and certificate from the eChapter board
