The Maryland Addiction Consultation Services (MACS) program is a sister program to the Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (BHIPP). MACS provides support to prescribers and their practices, pharmacists, and health care teams in addressing the needs of patients with substance use disorders and chronic pain management. MACS is made possible through funding from the Maryland Department of Health, Behavioral Health Administration and administered by the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
The MATE ACT requirement became effective in June 2023 and now requires that when a provider applies for or renews their DEA license, they must attest that they have completed eight hours of substance use disorders training. Information regarding the MATE ACT can be found here.
You should have each received a letter from the DEA reviewing this process. Click here to read the letter sent to all those who hold a DEA license.
