Your Chapter Board

President: Stephanie Goodwin,CPNP, IBCLC

Stephanie graduated with her BSN from St John Fisher college and her PNP from the University of Rochester. She is a certified PNP and lactation consultant and is a provider at Suburban Pediatrics. She has been a long standing member of WNY NAPNAP since she graduated and an active board member since 2016.  She has held for many positions on the board in the past, including President, showing her commitment to her PNP role. She recently recieved the PNP of the year from our chapter in 2025.  She has a quiet and reassuring demeanor and is likely why her patients love her so much.  She is a true advocate for her patients and the PNP role as well has precepted numerous students to help secure our PNP careers.  She juggles her busy work and family life with a smile.  She enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her two girls and husband.

President-elect: Lauren Sheehan, CPNP-BC

Lauren received her nursing degree from Trocaire College and her BSN from the University of Phoenix. Her MSN was obtained from Stony Brook University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She currently serves as a provider at Main Pediatrics. She enjoys traveling with her husband and family for beach vacations. When asked why she wants to care for growing and sick children, she said, "I wouldn't want to do anything else. Children have this uncanny ability to get up and groove when they are feeling better, which puts a smile on my face. The families and children make my job fun. Gaining a family's trust to help guide them as their child grows is one of the many reasons I became a pediatric nurse practitioner."

Immediate Past President: Kelsey Habermehl, RN FNP-C, CLC

Kelsey earned her BSN from the University at Buffalo and completed her MS at D'Youville University in 2018. She is a primary care provider at Sheridan Pediatrics. Additionally, she is an active member of the Junior League of Buffalo and Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. Kelsey discovered her passion for working with children at a young age and began her nursing career in a NICU. She cherishes the connections she forms with families and finds joy in witnessing the growth of the infants she cares for. Being part of her patients' lives as they develop brings her immense fulfillment, and she remains dedicated to her work every day. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and Australian shepherd, Riley. Kelsey is an enthusiastic traveler, an avid reader, and takes pleasure in exploring Buffalo's diverse food scene

Secretary: Kathleen Mariano, PNP, PhD

Kathie has been a PNP since 2006 and a member of NAPNAP for 45 years. She obtained her PNP, Master's and Ph.D. in Nursing from The University at Buffalo. Clinical experience has been at Oishei Hodge Pediatrics, Robert Warner Rehab Center, and Tonawanda Pediatrics.  She has also held administrative roles at Elmwood Health Center and Robert Warner Rehab Center. Kathie’s academic experiences include teaching nursing at Daemen University and D'Youville University. She is committed to NAPNAP so we can continue to provide healthy outcomes for children and their families!

Treasurer: Richard Maniace, CPNP

Rick’s professional journey in nursing began with his degrees from Genesee Community College, SUNY College at Brockport, and the University of Buffalo in February 2000. His 25-year association with NAPNAP is a significant part of his career, reflecting his enduring commitment. In the last five years at Main Pediatrics, he has consistently provided high-quality, compassionate care in a primary setting. He values spending time with his family and dogs in his leisure time, and his love for travel often takes him to Disney.

CE Chair: Christie Koedel, BSN, CPNP, AE-C

Christie graduated from the University at Buffalo with her RN and MSN degrees. She has been working at Carrow Street Pediatrics, PLLC, for the past 20 years. Specializing in asthma management and office-based teaching, she is deeply passionate about caring for children and their families. Christie remains actively engaged in her professional development through NAPNAP. Since winning the Student PNP of the Year award post-graduation, she has served in various roles on the board. Presently, she holds the position of CE chair of the chapter and co-chairs the annual Project Linus Blanket Drive, a 20-year tradition. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and walking her dog.

Membership Chair: Christine Nelson- Tuttle, FNP DHS

Dr. Christine Nelson-Tuttle has been an RN for 35 years and a pediatric nurse practitioner for 32 years. She has taught nursing and health care students at the UG, MS and doctoral students for 20 years. Currently she teaches Nursing Research and Pediatrics at Niagara University. She practices at Oishei Children’s Hospital in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. Her most recent research includes the best care for patients with eating disorders. She is Co-Editor of the Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice (12th edition). She is passionate about improving her care of deaf patients and their families and is learning ASL.

Legislative Chair: Denise Piechowski, BSN, CPNP

Denise graduated from the University at Buffalo with RN and MSN degrees. She spent several years working in school-based health for the Buffalo schools before joining Oishei Children's Hospital in the developmental and behavioral clinic. She served as the past president of our chapter and has held various board positions over the past 15 years. Outside of her professional endeavors, she finds enjoyment in traveling to Disney with her husband and family.
