Are you interested in joining the Blues City Chapter NAPNAP Board?

Elections occur every two years. In particular, we are looking for more primary care and mental health representation, but are open to all sub-specialties. Below are descriptions of our board positions. The term starts in July (even years) and is two years long with the option to stay on if you would like for two terms, with the exception of the president-elect. We expect attendance of board meetings; there will be 4-6 per year depending on the schedule. There is also some time required outside of the board meetings to fulfill the obligations of your specific role.

President: This position is the prior president-elect and serves one term but can be re-elected if president–elect is not available and/or not ready for the position. President upholds the standards of the Blues City NAPNAP chapter and is the liaison to other chapters as well as national information. The chapter president is the chief elected officer of the chapter. The president presides at meetings of both the membership and board and serves as the primary spokesperson of the chapter.

President-elect: This position requires a three year commitment. The first year as president-elect and the remainder of term as president.

Secretary: The chapter secretary is responsible for taking minutes and compiling notes from all board meetings and activities.

Treasurer: The chapter treasurer serves as the custodian of the chapter’s funds, maintaining these funds in a bank account and dispersing them in accordance with the chapter’s disbursement policy and principles of transparency.

Communications Chair: The communications chair is responsible for compiling and distributing the quarterly newsletter and corresponding with members about upcoming events and legislative updates. They also assist with managing social media accounts.

Legislative Chair: The legislative chair partners with other pediatric and APRN-focused bodies such as the APRN Coalition, AAP, and national NAPNAP to stay aware of, promote, and help develop legislation focused on improving the health and welfare of children, as well as promoting NP practice. The chair reports to the local Blues City NAPNAP board, obtains consensus on policy development, and disseminates information on current and upcoming policy changes.

Continuing Education Chair: The continuing education chair plans and coordinates continuing education meetings for the chapter throughout the year. The chair presides over the program committee and facilitates the logistics of the event including location, registration, speaker management, food/beverage, audio/visual and marketing/promotion of the programs. The CE chair works in concert with chapter officers and membership to determine the educational needs of the chapter.

Membership Chair: The membership chair is responsible for sending out monthly emails to new members and newly renewed members. The chair will also assist in recruiting new Blues City NAPNAP members, as well as new board members. Each year the chair creates a ballot of nominees for members to vote on at the spring conference, and tally the votes. The membership chair also sends out yearly chapter surveys.

Student Liaison: Attends all board meetings, and assists board members with events or correspondence when needed. This person should be in communication with local PNP programs and help to communicate needs or concerns from students that the board can help address.
