Bio

KATHLEEN LOGAN, RN, CPNP, IBCLC has practiced as a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in the newborn nursery at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC for 12 yrs and in primary care since 1988. Certified as a lactation consultant in 2003, she provides lactation counseling and support to mothers in the hospital and in Kaiser Permanente’s outpatient clinic in Washington, D.C. She has her own Lactation Consulting Business and is a breastfeeding advocate in her community where she teaches breastfeeding classes and is Secretary of the D.C. Breastfeeding Coalition (DCBFC). Kathleen’s area of expertise is in newborn care and lactation consulting. Practicing in both hospital and primary care settings, she has a unique opportunity to follow breastfeeding mothers from the hospital to the doctor’s office. During this vulnerable period after birth, she provides lactation support to mothers and manages breastfeeding problems. Kathleen is a member of the DCBFC. She is currently involved in the research project, the District of Columbia Hospital Initiative (DCBFHI) with the Coalition. She has written a summary of the DCBFHI for the Coalition’s web site and a press release of the DCBFHI. Kathleen is an member of the NAPNAP special interest group on breastfeeding and a member of ILCA.
