Dr. Sarah Scheuermann, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC


Bio

Sarah Scheuermann, DNP, is an experienced, board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care (CPNP-PC). Most recent experience was providing primary care for patients with Children’s International Medical Group in Louisiana and caring for patients of Children's Hospital of New Orleans. She gained prior professional CPNP experience with Alabama Children’s Clinic in Huntsville, Alabama. Sarah had a 15-year strong RN foundation prior to pursuing a nurse practitioner career, with years of experience in a pediatric intensive care unit, newborn well-baby nursery, neonatal intensive care unit, emergency department, pediatric primary care telephonic triage, and nursing education. Professional writing experience was obtained through newspaper reporting.

Sarah is board certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). Professional affiliations and active memberships include the National Association for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners (LANP), Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Gamma Chapter, American Telemedicine Association, Obesity Medicine Association, and the Society for Pediatric Urgent Care Practitioners (SPUC). Sarah advocates for pediatric access to quality care, policy change to enhance pediatric nutrition, and the rights of all children to have safe homes and quality educational settings.

Education

Sarah completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the University of South Alabama in pediatric primary care. She earned dual undergraduate degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi in nursing and communications. Sarah obtained her Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of South Alabama and specializes as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner. Academic honors include Sigma Theta Tau International membership and receiving the University of South Alabama’s 2013 Spirit of Nursing Award for exemplifying the essence of nursing & outstanding attributes as a nurse. Sarah designed, developed, and implemented a system-wide obesity telehealth clinic at Children’s Hospital and Children’s International  that to utilized healthcare information technology in Epic and telehealth visits to enhance pediatric obesity care. Other interests are pediatric urgent care, nutrition, literacy, preventing child trafficking, and foreign medical missions. Sarah has been awarded scholarships for her DNP and missions work.
