Title: Pediatric Adrenal Insufficiency: Diagnosis and Management

Michelle McLoughlin, MSN, CPNP-AC

Michelle McLoughlin graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from The
Pennsylvania State University in 2011. She then began working at The Children's
Hospital of Philadelphia as a Registered Nurse in July 2011 on the inpatient
Gastroenterology and Endocrinology floor. In January 2013 she began the Pediatric
Acute / Chronic Nurse Practitioner Program at The University of Pennsylvania and
graduated with her Master's of Science in Nursing in August 2015. She then began
working as the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for the Adrenal and Puberty Center in the
Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
where she has been for the last five years.

Objectives for Lecture:
At the conclusion of this lecture, participants will be able to:
1. Differentiate between primary, central, and steroid induced adrenal insufficiency
2. Identify the indications, rationale, and dosing for stress dose steroids
3. Describe steroid management and the goals of therapy in adrenal insufficiency
