Shelby is an assistant professor in Grand Valley State University’s Kirkhof College of Nursing and a pediatric nurse practitioner at Fox Pediatrics. Her interests include pediatric primary care, developmental screening, mental and behavioral health, health promotion, and simulation-based education, and she is active in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare’s Pediatrics Section.

Michelle is a pediatric neurology nurse practitioner at Corewell Health, where she specializes in diagnosing and managing headache disorders. Since 2025, she has also served as an Assistant Professor at Grand Valley State University's Kirkhof College of Nursing.

Michelle earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Rush University College of Nursing and became board-certified as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board in 2020. She brings both her clinical expertise and academic experience to her role as Continuing Education Co-Chair for the Michigan Chapter

Kaitlyn earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She currently works in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, where her clinical interests include pediatric sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Carolynn earned her PhD from Oakland University, MSN from Wayne State University, and BSN from Oakland University. She is currently a faculty member in the School of Nursing at Oakland University, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate nursing students in pediatric health.

She maintains clinical expertise in pediatric primary care through continued work in private practice at Shelby Pediatrics. Her research focuses on improving emotional and behavioral outcomes among children.

Tara is a pediatric nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in pediatric hematology/oncology and stem cell transplantation. She received her BSN from Madonna University in 2002 and her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. She worked at UT Southwestern/Children’s Health in Dallas as an Acute Care PNP in Stem Transplant and early phase oncology/cell therapy research for 15 years before moving back home to Michigan in 2023. She currently works at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Pediatric Hematology.

Kaitlin earned bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University. She began her nursing career in the neonatal intensive care unit before transitioning to general pediatrics.

Kaitlin later completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Wayne State University. Her community work includes volunteering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michigan, supporting local foster closets, and collaborating on a pilot program to develop emergency placement kits for children entering foster care.

Hilary is a pediatric nurse practitioner with clinical experience in gastroenterology, acute care, and primary care. She also holds a Master of Public Health with a focus on how life experiences influence health and well-being. In addition to her clinical work, Hilary serves in nonprofit leadership roles that support children, families, and communities.

Jessica Spruit completed her BSN at Michigan State, MSN at Rush University, and DNP at Case Western Reserve. She began practicing as an acute care PNP in 2008. Dr. Spruit spent several years as the coordinator of the acute care PNP program at Wayne State University. She currently works in Palliative Care and BMT at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

Prior to becoming the Legislative Chair of MI NAPNAP, she served four years as Member at Large on the NAPNAP Executive Board. Jessica is interested in early integration of palliative care for children with serious illnesses and has completed several presentations and publications on this and other relevant topics.

Elaine earned her BSN from the University of Michigan. After working at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and practicing overseas as a pediatric nurse, she returned to the University of Michigan to complete her master’s degree and pediatric nurse practitioner certification.

Elaine has practiced in several pediatric and hospital-based settings and developed expertise in lactation care. She established a hospital-based lactation clinic and later opened a breastfeeding clinic within a primary care pediatric practice.

Elaine earned her DNP and transitioned to academia. She is now a Professor of Nursing at the University of Detroit Mercy. She has authored textbook chapters and peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at national, regional, and local conferences.

Elaine previously served in several Michigan Chapter leadership positions and has returned to the board as Bylaws Chair.

Lydia earned her BSN and MSN from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and her DNP from Rush University. Over her 30-year career as a pediatric nurse, she has developed a deep expertise in adolescent and school-based health care, practicing at multiple health centers across Southeast Michigan. Today, Lydia is an associate professor-clinical at Wayne State University and actively contributes to various academic and professional committees. A dedicated leader, she previously served as MINAPNAP's Bylaw Chair and recently rejoined the board as the Student and Early Career Co-Liaison.

Jenna earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from Wayne State University. She currently works on the inpatient Pediatric Gastroenterology Service at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. Her clinical interests are quality improvement, patient and family education, and nursing education.
