A practical response at a difficult moment
Emergency Foster Care Placement Kits
Kaitlin Dughlas, the chapter’s Community Engagement and Social Media Chair, is collaborating with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to develop Emergency Foster Care Placement Kits.
The kits are intended for children who enter foster care during urgent, late-night placements, when a caregiver may receive a call with little notice, and few stores or community resources are available.
Each kit will include basic personal care items, sleep essentials, and an age-appropriate comfort item. By placing these necessities directly in a caregiver’s hands, the initiative aims to reduce the immediate burden of finding supplies and allow the family to focus on welcoming and settling the child.
