Volunteering

Get involved with MI NAPNAP

Your time and ideas can move the chapter forward

Whether you can help for one hour, one event, one project, or a full committee term, there is a place for you in the Michigan Chapter.

Volunteering is a practical way to meet colleagues, develop leadership skills, support pediatric-focused professionals, and strengthen care for children and families across Michigan.

Start where you are

Choose a level of involvement that fits your life

You do not need to begin with a formal leadership role. Many volunteers start with one defined task or event.

A few hours

Help at one event

Support registration, welcome attendees, staff a booth, assemble kits, assist vendors, or help with event logistics.

Short term

Take on a project

Write a newsletter item, create a social post, review an award nomination, help recruit at a school, or support a service drive.

Ongoing

Join a committee

Contribute regularly to community engagement, communications, membership, advocacy, education, or student support.

Leadership

Lead an initiative

Coordinate a project, serve as a committee lead or co-chair, or build experience toward future elected chapter leadership.

Have Another Idea?

A new project does not always fit neatly within an existing committee. Members are encouraged to share practical ideas that advance the chapter’s mission.

  • New community partnerships
  • Regional meetups or local networking
  • Clinical resources or member education
  • Research, writing, or professional development
  • Short-term special projects

Where help is especially valuable

Community projects and educational events need many hands

The chapter’s 2025 volunteer structure identified its largest capacity needs in community service and program planning, with additional opportunities in communications, membership, advocacy, and student support.

These are strong entry points for members who want a defined role, visible impact, and the chance to work alongside other pediatric professionals.

You do not need prior committee experience. Reliability, communication, and a willingness to contribute are often the most important qualifications.

Ready to get started?

Send us a short note

Email the chapter and tell us what type of involvement would work best for you. A chapter leader will connect you with a relevant committee, project, or upcoming need.

Include:

  • Your name and preferred contact information
  • Your NAPNAP membership or student status
  • The interest area or project that appeals to you
  • Whether you prefer one-time, project-based, or ongoing work
  • Any skills, experience, or regional connections you would like to share

Current openings evolve as projects and events develop. Expressing interest does not commit you to a role. It starts a conversation about where your availability and interests may be the best fit.
