President's Message

Welcome to the Arizona Chapter of NAPNAP, and thank you for checking out our website!

As chapter president for the 2014-2015 year, I am very excited to share with you the ongoing accomplishments of AZ NAPNAP as well as our plans and vision for the coming year and beyond. First, though, I would like to extend an invitation for you to share your ideas for our chapter with the board.  We can be contacted at aznapnap@gmail.com and we look forward to receiving your feedback, questions, and suggestions. We are a thriving chapter of a fantastic organization, and your input will help us move forward in a way that serves our members and our communities most effectively.

Our executive board has created a strategic plan for the coming year that is focused on the three key areas of communication, education, and outreach.

Communication is a key priority. We recognize that it is an ongoing challenge to keep our membership informed of chapter activities as well as legislation related to pediatric healthcare and advanced practice nursing. We have recently been able to update our membership email list, so this will be our primary means of communicating with you, as a member. Please contact us if you have ideas for other effective forms of communication.

In regards to education, our vision for this year is to share the vast amount of knowledge held by our own members. Coming to chapter events is the best way to stay apprised of chapter information! Several times throughout the year, we will meet for a Saturday morning brunch and have educational programs offered by a few members working in specialty areas. Contact hours (including pharmacology hours) will be offered and we are striving to include acute care content, as well.

We are excited that the national NAPNAP conference will be held in Las Vegas, NV. This offers our members a wonderful opportunity to network and attend a diverse educational offering. Please visit www.napnap.org/Events/AnnualConference.aspx for more information.

In addition to strengthening ourselves as practitioners with quality educational offerings, our chapter also seeks to strengthen our communities. Our members continue to volunteer to provide free pediatric healthcare at the monthly CHS/ICM clinic in downtown Phoenix. We will also be staffing the medical stations at the March of Dimes “March for Babies” fundraiser in the spring. If you have other outreach opportunities that you would like to see our membership involved with, please contact me.

As pediatric nurse practitioners, we play an increasingly important role in the health of Arizona’s children. Our ability to advocate and care for kids comes down to our individual capability as practitioners as well as the strength of our profession as a whole. Having a strong professional organization serves to bolster our standing and effectiveness. The strength of our organization, though, comes down to the involvement of our members. Please join us for our educational offerings and volunteer opportunities.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Lesser
